This Cookie Policy explains how We Are Magic Number Ltd uses cookies and similar browser storage on this website.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site function and, when permitted, help us understand how it’s being used.
The cookies we use
First-party cookies. We do not currently set any first-party tracking or analytics cookies on this site.
Third-party consent gate.The homepage map (provided by Google Maps) is a third-party service that may set cookies on its own domain when it loads. To comply with PECR, the map is not loaded until you give consent — either via the banner shown on your first visit, or by clicking “Load map” on the placeholder in the map slot. Declining the banner keeps the map off and stores that preference in your browser’s localStorage under the key mn-cookie-consent.
Local storage and session storage.We use your browser’s localStorage and sessionStorage (which are not technically cookies, but serve a similar purpose) to remember a few things while you’re on the site:
- Sound preference (whether you have unmuted the hero video). Stored in sessionStorage and cleared when you close the browser.
- Cookie consent choice. Stored in localStorage under "mn-cookie-consent" so the banner does not reappear after you have made a choice.
You can clear both at any time from your browser’s privacy / site-data settings.
Third-party services
Some features of the site rely on third-party services. These services operate under their own privacy and cookie policies, which we link to where applicable.
- Google Analytics (GA4)— we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (which pages are popular, where visitors arrive from, broadly which devices and regions). GA only loads after you accept the cookie banner, and IP addresses are anonymised. When loaded, GA sets the following first-party cookies on
wearemagicnumber.com:_ga— distinguishes unique visitors (expires after 2 years)_ga_<CONTAINER>— per-property session state (2 years)_gid— distinguishes unique visitors (24 hours)_gat— rate-limits requests to Google (1 minute)
- Google Maps— the map and Street View on the homepage are embedded from Google Maps, and only load after you accept the cookie banner (or click “Load map” on the in-place placeholder). When loaded, your browser contacts
maps.google.com. Google may set cookies on their own domain as part of that request. See Google’s privacy policy for details. - Bunny.net CDN— project videos and the homepage hero video are served from
magic-number-cdn.b-cdn.net. Bunny does not typically set cookies for direct media requests; see their privacy policy. - Google Forms— the freelancer application link on the Careers page opens a Google Form in a new tab. If you click through, Google’s cookies apply on
docs.google.com. See Google’s privacy policy.
Managing cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site function (for example, the map may not load). For more on managing cookies, see your browser’s help pages.
Reset your choice. If you previously accepted or declined the cookie banner, you can clear that preference here: . The banner will reappear on your next visit.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. If we ever introduce analytics or other non-essential cookies, this policy will be updated to reflect that before they go live.
